Kuşadası Local Delicacies
Kusadasi is one of the cities that tourists visit the most in the Aegean province of Turkey. Among the many reasons they do so is of course the various delicacies Kusadasi has to offer to its visitors. From city flavors in fancy restaurants, which vary from fish, pizza, and other restaurants serving Mediterranean cuisine to Turkish food of all kinds, to countryside village diners which offer a series of local dishes.
Having so many choices, most people seek guidance in the search for the best place to eat at. While there is no absolute answer to give our guests here in Kusadasi, there are a few staples that every tourist visiting here should provide a shot at.
One of said staples is ‘zeytinyağlı enginar dolması’. One of the favorites of Aegean people, this local dish is prepared with artichoke. After getting boiled, the artichoke is then filled with many local garnishes including rice and sprinkled with lemon, fresh dill and olive oil. After the dish is prepared, it is served cold.
‘Bolama’ is another one of these flavors that one should definitely taste. It is mainly prepared with rice, chickpeas, and meat. A cooking tray called bolama is used during the process of making it, thus giving it the name ‘Bolama.’
Lastly, to finish off the list, we have a unique desert called ‘tahinli kabak tatlısı.’ Pumpkin is cooked on top of limestone and then garnished with sesame butter and walnuts. ‘Tahinli Kabak Tatlısı’ might be the most popular dessert to finish off a delightful dinner here in Kusadasi.
